Wholesale Day-Old Chicks in Ghana: How Bulk Orders Work

How bulk and repeat orders of day-old chicks work with Agro Prime Ghana: what to bring to the first message, how to plan the brooder and transport, and how quotes are issued.

Agro Prime Ghana TeamUpdated 25 Oct 20269 min read

Agro Prime Ghana handles large and repeat orders for day-old chicks through WhatsApp. Message us with the number of chicks, the type (broiler or layer), the date you need them and your town or area, and we will confirm what our Kasoa hatchery can plan for that date and send a written quote. We do not publish bulk prices or discount tiers on this page, because each large order is planned and priced individually.

A large chick order is a planning exercise. It needs a heated brooder floor sized for the number, feeders and drinkers, feed in dry storage, and a delivery arrangement that gets the birds from the hatchery to your site in good condition. Most of the risk sits in what you do before the chicks arrive, and in the first hours after they hatch. The sections below set out what to prepare, what to ask us and how the order runs from first message to delivery.

Quick answer

For a bulk or repeat order of day-old chicks, message WhatsApp (+233 24 915 1503) with the number and type of chicks, the date you need them, and your delivery area. We confirm availability and lead time for that date, the feed and advice you need, and the delivery arrangement and cost, in writing. There are no published discount tiers. Plan the brooder before you order: about 0.5 m² of heated floor per 100 chicks from day one, and feed and water ready on arrival. The EFSA plain-language summary on chick transport advises first access to feed and water within 48 hours of hatching. Or book a visit to talk through a large order in person.

What a bulk order involves

Bulk buyers usually fall into three groups: a farm scaling up from a small flock, a restocker who needs the same supply on a schedule, and a group that buys together for its members. Each needs the same information from us. The table below is the checklist we work through with you, so you know what to bring to the first message.

Planning the brooder floor for your flock size

The brooder is the first constraint on a bulk order. The Merck Veterinary Manual's minimum space figure is 0.5 m² of heated brooder area per 100 day-old chicks. The chart below scales that figure to the order sizes most bulk buyers consider. Plan the brooder for the number of chicks you will place at once, and make sure the house can hold the birds as they grow. The same guide gives about 0.1 m² per bird from week one and 0.2 m² per bird from week eight, so a house sized only for day one will be too small within weeks.

Do not overcrowd the brooder, even when the order is large. Split a big order across more than one brooder rather than packing one, so each group has room to move away from the heat. The Mississippi State University guide recommends brooding the maximum number of chicks under each brooder without overcrowding them, and that means the number is set by the brooder, not the order. For the brooding routine, see our guide on how to brood day-old chicks in Ghana, and our brooder temperature chart.

The first 48 hours: why timing and transport matter

The EFSA plain-language summary on the welfare of day-old chicks transported in containers recommends that chicks have first access to feed and water within 48 hours. That period covers the hatchery, holding, loading, transport and unloading, counted from the first chick hatched to the last one reaching feed and water. The summary also recommends keeping chicks at no less than 30 °C during transport, and notes that dead-on-arrival rates above 0.1% should be investigated.

For your order, this means that the time between the hatchery and your brooder matters as much as the number of chicks. Ask us, before you order, how we plan transport for a large batch, and what you should check when the birds are unloaded, such as the number of dead birds on arrival. Count and record the dead-on-arrival birds on the same day, and tell us straight away. We will discuss what the count means and what happens next with you on WhatsApp. We do not promise a figure for transit losses on this page.

How bulk pricing works

We do not publish bulk discount tiers or per-chick prices on this page, because the price depends on the number, the type of chick, the date, the feed you order and the delivery distance. We quote each large order separately, and we will send the quote in writing so you can compare like with like. The quote should list the chicks, the feed, the delivery and any other charges, so you can see the full cost of the order.

If anyone offers you a bulk price or discount, ask them to put it in writing and confirm it with us on WhatsApp before you rely on it. A quote from us is the one that applies to your order.

Planning a large order?

Send us the number and type of chicks, the date you need them and your delivery area. We will confirm what we can supply for that date, the lead time, and the feed and delivery for your order, in writing. Message us on WhatsApp (+233 24 915 1503), or book a visit to walk through the brooder plan in person.

How to place a bulk order with Agro Prime

  • Send your order: the number and type of chicks, the date you need them and your town or area, on WhatsApp.
  • Get our confirmation: we confirm availability and lead time for your date, and any questions about breed or stage.
  • Agree the feed and advice: we confirm the starter feed you need, and advise on the brooder and the feed stages to follow.
  • Confirm delivery and quote: we confirm the delivery arrangement, cost and timing, and send the written quote.
  • Prepare the site: light the brooder a day ahead, check the feed, water and bedding, and have people ready to receive the birds.

Repeat orders and restocking

Many buyers want a regular supply rather than a single order. Tell us how often you restock, how many chicks each time and how far ahead you can plan. We will tell you whether a regular schedule is possible for your site, and what lead time it needs. Keep records of mortality, feed used and water, so each order can be planned from the last. Our poultry business plan guide shows how to use those records to plan the next cycle. Where you want to know which breed suits a repeat programme, our guide on the best chicken breeds in Ghana compares the options.

Ready for a written quote?

Send us the number and type of chicks, the date and your delivery area, and we will reply with what we can plan for that date and a written quote covering chicks, feed and delivery. Message us on WhatsApp (+233 24 915 1503), or book a visit to talk through a repeat supply plan.

Bottom line

A bulk order of day-old chicks is planned, not just placed. Start with the number and the date, plan the heated brooder floor for the number and for the size the birds will reach, and get your feed and delivery confirmed in writing. We do not publish bulk prices or discount tiers, and we will not invent a lead time or a transit figure. Message us with your order, and we will tell you what we can plan for your date. If you are looking at a larger project, our partner and invest page explains how that can work.

Frequently asked questions

Do you sell day-old chicks in bulk?

Yes, we handle large and repeat orders through WhatsApp. Message us with the number and type of chicks and the date you need them, and we will confirm what our hatchery can plan for that date.

What is the minimum order for wholesale day-old chicks?

We do not publish a minimum on this page. Tell us the number you need and the date, and we will say whether we can supply it.

Are there bulk discounts on day-old chicks?

This page does not list discount tiers. Bulk prices are quoted for each order on WhatsApp, in writing, and list the chicks, feed, delivery and any other charges.

How far ahead should I order?

There is no fixed lead time on this page. Message us as early as you can with your date. We confirm the lead time for that date, and it depends on the number, the type of chick and the hatchery plan.

How many chicks can I put in one brooder?

The number is set by the brooder, not the order. Merck's minimum figure is about 0.5 m² of heated floor per 100 day-old chicks. Do not overcrowd the brooder, and split a large order across more than one brooder if needed.

What if some chicks are dead when they arrive?

Count the dead-on-arrival birds when they are unloaded and tell us the same day. EFSA's summary suggests investigating dead-on-arrival rates above 0.1%. We will discuss the count and what happens next with you on WhatsApp, because the outcome depends on the order and the cause.

Do you deliver bulk orders across Ghana?

Yes, we arrange delivery across Ghana. Cost and timing depend on the distance, the number of chicks and your site, and we confirm both in writing before you commit.

Can I order feed with my bulk chicks?

Yes, ask us. Feed availability depends on the date and our stock, so we confirm the feed types and quantities on WhatsApp. Our broiler feeding guide explains the stages you will need.
