Looking for day-old chicks in Kintampo? Agro Prime Ghana supplies healthy day-old broiler and layer chicks, point-of-lay pullets and feed to farmers in Kintampo and across the Bono East Region, from our poultry hatchery in Kasoa. We do not have a shop or branch in Kintampo. We supply from Kasoa and arrange transport north, and we confirm the delivery cost and timing for your town when you message us. Kintampo is a farming and trading town on the transition between the forest belt and the northern savannah, with cashew, mango, yam, cassava and maize all grown around it. Farmers there who want to start a broiler batch or build a layer flock need chicks that will survive a long road trip and arrive strong. That is what we plan every order around.

From the Agro Prime Ghana team — a working hatchery in Kasoa supplying day-old chicks, point-of-lay pullets and feed across Ghana. Last updated October 2026.

Quick answer

Agro Prime supplies day-old broiler chicks, day-old layer chicks, point-of-lay pullets and poultry feed for buyers in Kintampo and the Bono East Region. Our hatchery is in Kasoa, so Kintampo orders are arranged and delivered by transport rather than collected from a local shop. To order, message us on WhatsApp (+233 24 915 1503) with your breed, quantity and town. We will send today's quote and confirm delivery to Kintampo before you commit.

What Kintampo farmers can buy from us

We supply the stock that fits how you farm:

  • Day-old broiler chicks for meat birds that reach market weight in around six to seven weeks. This is the most common start for farmers who want to sell live birds to Kintampo's markets and to traders passing through on the main road.
  • Day-old layer chicks for a flock you will raise from the start to laying age. You carry more brooding work but control the whole rearing programme.
  • Point-of-lay pullets that are close to laying age and begin to lay within a few weeks of arrival. Choose these if you want egg income sooner and do not want to take on the brooding stage.
  • Poultry feed for broiler starter, grower and finisher phases, and layer mash, so your birds stay on consistent nutrition from the first day to the last.

Why Kintampo's poultry market matters to you

Kintampo has been the capital of the Kintampo North Municipal since 2004, and the town's Wikipedia entry gives a population of about 111,000 from the 2013 figure. It is a tourist hub as well as a farming centre, which means a steady local demand for chicken and eggs alongside the traders who move produce along the north road. The bigger picture is about supply. Ghana eats far more chicken than it raises. According to Poultry World's summary of USDA Foreign Agricultural Service data, Ghana's chicken consumption was about 400,000 tonnes in 2021, of which imports supplied around 350,000 tonnes. Domestic broiler output that year was roughly 50,000 tonnes, close to 2% of demand. The same report forecast consumption of about 460,000 tonnes for 2022.

Those numbers are a standing opportunity for farmers who can produce good birds reliably. Recent commentary is also clear that the gap has not closed. A February 2026 report in Food Business Middle East & Africa put national chicken demand at 300,000 to 460,000 tonnes a year, and said imports make up 80 to 95 per cent of consumption. That report quotes an agribusiness consultant, not an official source, so treat the range as a sign of the scale of the gap rather than a precise figure.

Choosing the right product for your Kintampo farm

The table matches each product to its use. It lists no prices, because those depend on breed, quantity, season and transport, and we quote them to you directly.

Broiler or layer, and which breed

For most new Kintampo buyers the first decision is whether you want meat or eggs. If you are selling live birds to markets and traders, broilers give you the quickest turnover. The two leading commercial broiler lines are Cobb 500 and Ross 308. Both are fast-growing and well documented. Cobb 500 is widely known for feed efficiency, and Ross 308 for uniform, reliable flocks. Our Cobb 500 guide sets out the management that goes with it, and the Ross 308 management notes follow the same logic. Results depend far more on brooding and feeding than on the breed name, so do not choose on breed alone.

If you want eggs, brown layers are the usual choice, and a layer flock is a longer commitment. Read up on Lohmann Brown management before you decide, and talk to us about whether point-of-lay pullets fit your plan better than day-old layers.

Delivery to Kintampo and the north

Kintampo is a long haul from our Kasoa hatchery, and chicks are fragile on the road. That makes delivery the part of the order that needs the most care. We arrange transport to Kintampo and the wider Bono East Region, but we do not promise a fixed delivery time or price in advance, because the route, the load, the season and the size of your order all change the plan. When you message us, we will confirm the delivery arrangement for your town, what it costs, and how long it will take, before you pay.

Tell us who will receive the chicks and whether your farm is off the main road, so the arrangement is settled before the order leaves Kasoa.

If your farm is closer to Techiman than to Kintampo town, our Techiman page covers that market town and the same ordering process.

Preparing your Kintampo brooder before chicks arrive

The single biggest factor in a good first week is a brooder that is ready when the chicks land. Have the house cleaned and dry, the heat source running and checked, the litter spread, and feeders and drinkers set out at the right height. Chicks that arrive into a cold, wet or crowded space lose weight quickly and become harder to save. Our guide on how to brood day-old chicks in Ghana walks through the setup, and the brooder temperature chart shows how to adjust heat as the birds grow. Check the brooder at night as well as in the morning, because a chick that is cold at night can look fine at dawn and still be in trouble.

Have starter feed on hand before the chicks arrive, and we will walk you through the grower and finisher schedule when you order.

What to expect on price

We do not publish a fixed price list, and we will not give you a figure that might be out of date by the time you read it. The price of day-old chicks, pullets and feed moves with breed, season, order size, feed costs and transport to your town. Ask for a quote for your exact product, quantity and location, and compare the total cost of the batch, not the price per chick alone.

Why buy from a working hatchery

Agro Prime Ghana is a working poultry hatchery in Kasoa, not a trader reselling chicks. Questions about hatch dates and stock go straight to the people who manage the flock, and we can advise on brooding and feeding from the hatchery side. If you are planning to scale up, our partner and investment page explains how we work with people who want to build a poultry business.

Bottom line

Kintampo is a good market for farmers who can raise healthy birds and deliver them reliably, and Ghana's gap between demand and home-grown supply is still wide. To start a batch, choose the product that fits your plan, prepare the brooder and feed before the chicks arrive, and order through WhatsApp so we can confirm the price, the availability and the delivery to your town.

Frequently asked questions

How much do day-old chicks cost in Kintampo?
There is no fixed price we can publish without it going out of date. Prices depend on breed, product, quantity, season and transport to your town. Message us on WhatsApp with your product, quantity and town, and we will send you today's quote, including delivery.
Do you deliver to Kintampo?
We supply from our hatchery in Kasoa and arrange transport to Kintampo and the wider Bono East Region. We do not have a shop in Kintampo. We confirm the delivery cost, the route and the expected arrival time for your location when you order, before you pay.
Is there a minimum order for Kintampo?
Minimum quantities depend on the product and the transport run. Because Kintampo is a long journey from Kasoa, it usually makes sense to order a reasonable batch rather than a very small number. Tell us what you need and we will advise on the most practical option.
Are the chicks vaccinated?
Ask us about the vaccination status of the batch you are ordering when you message us. We will tell you what has been done for that batch and advise on the vaccination programme to continue after arrival, since that depends on the birds and your local disease risk.
Should I buy broiler or layer chicks for Kintampo?
It depends on how you plan to sell. Broilers turn over faster and suit live-bird sales to markets and traders. Layers take longer to reach laying age and suit egg production over a longer period. If you want eggs quickly, point-of-lay pullets may fit better than day-old layers. Tell us your plan and we will help you choose.
How far ahead should I order?
Order as early as you can, especially if you need a particular breed, quantity or delivery date. Message us to check the next hatch or availability. We confirm dates when you order, and we do not promise stock that we have not confirmed.
How do I pay?
We confirm the accepted payment methods and the payment terms when you message us, before any order is confirmed. Ask us at that stage so there are no surprises on either side.
What if some chicks die in transit?
Losses on a long road journey are a real risk for any supplier, so we cover this in our delivery terms. Ask us about the handling and what happens to losses in transit before you place your order, and keep your delivery details, batch information and any photos if there is a problem on arrival.
