Noiler Chicks for Sale in Ghana: Dual-Purpose Day-Old Birds

What the Noiler is, what Nigerian trial data says about its meat and egg performance, and how to order day-old chicks, pullets or feed from Agro Prime Ghana.

If you are looking for Noiler chicks for sale in Ghana, the first thing to know is what the bird is for. The Noiler is an improved dual-purpose chicken: one flock gives you meat and eggs, which suits the mixed, semi-free-range set-ups most smallholders run. Agro Prime Ghana is a working poultry hatchery in Kasoa. We supply day-old chicks, point-of-lay pullets and feed, and we arrange transport to farmers across Ghana. Availability can vary, so ask us which strains we have available now before you plan your order. You can get that answer, and a current quote, on WhatsApp in a few minutes.

Quick answer

The Noiler is an improved dual-purpose chicken that gives both meat and eggs. In an on-farm trial of six improved dual-purpose breeds in Nigeria, Noiler males reached about 1,461 g at 18 weeks, the heaviest group together with Sasso and Kuroiler, and Noiler hens had the highest survival through the laying period (about 82%). Its weak point in that trial was survival between weeks 6 and 18, which was the lowest of the six. Agro Prime Ghana can supply day-old chicks, point-of-lay pullets and feed. To order, message WhatsApp (+233 24 915 1503) and ask which strains we have available now, how many you need and when. Delivery across Ghana is arranged by agreement, and we confirm the details when you message us.

What a Noiler is and why people buy it

The Noiler belongs to the group of improved dual-purpose chickens developed for smallholders. Unlike a fast-growing broiler, which is bred to put on meat as quickly as possible and is generally kept for one meat cycle, a dual-purpose bird is meant to do two jobs. The males grow into a meaty carcass, and the hens lay a useful number of eggs in a season. The trade-off is that it takes longer to reach market weight, and the hens lay fewer eggs than a specialist brown layer.

That trade-off suits a particular kind of farmer. If you keep birds in a compound, a backyard run or a partly open house, and you want meat for sale or for the table and eggs for the household or a small market, a dual-purpose flock can make sense. It spreads your income over time rather than putting everything into one sale date. Ghana's Chicken4U project has been scaling up dual-purpose chicks for rural households in 2026, which shows how much attention this type of bird is getting for family-scale production (Food & Agribusiness report, April 2026).

What the performance data says about Noiler

The most useful comparison we can point to is a multi-country trial run under the African Chicken Genetic Gains programme. About 2,100 smallholder farmers in five agroecological zones in Nigeria each received around 30 birds, kept in backyard and free-range conditions, and their performance was recorded from 2016 to 2018. Six improved dual-purpose breeds were compared: Noiler, Sasso, Kuroiler, FUNAAB Alpha, Shika-Brown and Fulani. The results were published in Archives of Animal Breeding (2020).

Three findings matter for a buyer. First, the Noiler, Sasso and Kuroiler males were the heaviest at 18 weeks, at about 1,461 g, 1,399 g and 1,391 g respectively, and the paper reports that these three did not differ significantly from one another. Second, Noiler hens had the best survival through the laying period of any breed in the trial, at about 82%. Third, Noiler chicks had the lowest estimated survival from weeks 6 to 18, at about 77%. In plain terms, a Noiler flock rewards you if you can get it through the growing stage in good health and keep the hens laying for a long time. It asks for careful brooding and disease management in those early weeks.

Noiler against the alternatives

A Noiler is not the right bird for every buyer. The table below sets it beside the other breeds most farmers ask us about. The dual-purpose numbers come from the backyard trial above. The Cobb 500 row comes from a different, controlled broiler study, so read it as a reference point for a specialist meat bird rather than a direct head-to-head.

OptionGrowth (males)Main useHardiness in the trial dataBest for
NoilerAbout 1,461 g at 18 weeksMeat and eggsLaying survival about 82% (best of six); growing survival about 77% (lowest of six)Semi-free-range family or small-market flocks that want both products
KuroilerAbout 1,391 g at 18 weeksMeat and eggsGrowing survival about 77%; laying survival about 70% (lowest of six)Flocks where the egg count matters more than survival of the hens
SassoAbout 1,399 g at 18 weeksMeat, coloured and free-rangeGrowing survival about 77%; laying survival about 73%Free-range meat flocks with a longer cycle
Cobb 500 (broiler)About 3,503 g at 42 days (males, controlled-house objective)Fast meat onlyNot in the trial; needs tight feed, heat and housing controlShortest meat cycle, housed and managed closely

If your priority is the shortest route from chick to sale, a broiler is the answer. If your priority is eggs and meat from the same birds, with the chance to keep the best hens for laying, a dual-purpose bird such as the Noiler is worth a serious look. Our best chicken breeds for Ghana guide sets out the wider trade-offs.

How to order Noiler chicks from Agro Prime, step by step

  1. Message us on WhatsApp. Send your order to +233 24 915 1503. Say you are asking about Noiler chicks, and tell us your location.
  2. Ask which strains we have available now. Availability can vary, so we confirm what is ready rather than promising a line in advance.
  3. Tell us the mix you want. Give the number of day-old chicks, whether you want to raise them for meat, eggs or both, and whether you want point-of-lay pullets for faster eggs.
  4. Agree the date and the delivery. We confirm the collection date, the transport arrangement and what it will cost to reach you before you pay.
  5. Collect or receive your birds and start brooding straight away. Our guide to brooding day-old chicks covers the first two weeks in detail.

Delivery across Ghana and what we will confirm with you

We supply farmers in Kasoa and across Ghana, and we arrange transport for day-old chicks and other orders. Day-old birds are fragile, so the journey plan matters. Before you order, we will confirm three things with you: the route and transport, the expected arrival time, and the handling we use for your area. We do not quote a delivery price or timing on this page, because they depend on your town, the size of the order and the day of the week. Message us and we will give you the real figures for your location.

Journey times depend on distance and route, so have the brooder ready and warm before the chicks arrive. Check the birds when they come off the vehicle, and tell us straight away if anything is wrong.

Preparing your house before the chicks arrive

Dual-purpose chicks need the same early care as any other day-old bird. A clean, dry brooder, a steady source of heat, fresh water with the right starter feed and room to move are the basics. Many losses in the first weeks come from chilling, dehydration or crowding rather than from the breed itself. Because Noiler chicks had their lowest survival between weeks 6 and 18 in the trial, that stage is worth extra attention in your planning. Keep records of weight and mortality, vaccinate on schedule, and separate sick birds early.

Once the birds are through the brooding stage, a feeding plan matters more than the strain name. Our broiler feeding guide explains the growing feeds, and the same principles of clean feed, clean water and steady protein apply to a dual-purpose flock.

Talk to us before you buy

Not sure whether a Noiler, a Kuroiler or a broiler suits your yard? Message us on WhatsApp (+233 24 915 1503) with your space, your market and your goals, and we will tell you honestly which option fits. If you would rather see the birds in person, book a visit to our Kasoa hatchery and talk it through face to face.

Pricing: why we quote per order, not per breed

We do not publish a fixed price for Noiler chicks on this page. Day-old prices depend on the breed and strain available that week, the number of birds in your order, the season, and whether you also want point-of-lay pullets or feed. Any published figure from a market report would be out of date by the time you read it, and we would rather give you a real quote than a number that may not hold. When you message us, we give you today's price for the strain and quantity you need, plus the delivery cost for your location, in writing before you commit.

Budget the whole cycle, including feed, brooding equipment, vaccines and transport, and judge the flock over its full life rather than its first sale.

Bottom line on Noiler chicks in Ghana

The Noiler is a sensible choice when you want meat and eggs from the same flock and you are working in a semi-free-range or family set-up. The performance data from the Nigerian trial shows strong male weights and the best hen survival in the group, with a weaker growing-stage survival that you must manage carefully. It is not a substitute for a broiler if you want the fastest meat, and it is not a substitute for a brown layer if you want the most eggs. Choose it for the mix it offers. Ask us which strains we have available now, and if you are thinking about a bigger poultry project, our partner page sets out the investment side of working with us.

Minimums vary with the product and the day's availability. Tell us what you need and we will confirm whether we can supply it and at what quantity. Ask us directly on WhatsApp rather than assuming a minimum.
Can you deliver Noiler chicks to my town?
