Broiler Chicks
Cobb 500 · Ross 308 · Arbor Acres. The six-to-eight-week meat cycle that powers Ghana's chop bars, frozen-chicken trade and festive market.
Most "hatcheries" you will meet in Ghana are resellers with a phone number. Agro Prime Ghana Limited is the other kind: a working commercial hatchery in Kasoa with computer-controlled incubators, a weekly Thursday hatch, day-zero vaccination, and a door you can walk through. Chicks leave us candled, graded and counted — for farms, agrovet shops and farmer schemes in every region.
Twenty-one days, four checkpoints, zero guesswork. This is the process every Agro Prime chick goes through — the same one you can watch when you book a visit. It is also the checklist to hold any Ghanaian hatchery against, including us.
Fertile eggs from selected parent stock are set into the incubators — computer-controlled for temperature and humidity, with automatic turning through the first 18 days. Eggs are handled clean-side-up, because a dirty egg is a contaminated egg.
Every egg is candled over a light to see what is really growing inside. Clears and blood rings are removed. A hatchery that skips candling is shipping you air in some boxes; a hatchery that culls honestly is protecting your bird count and its own name.
Developed eggs move to the hatcher trays, where turning stops and the humidity rises for the hatch itself. From here the team watches temperature and humidity the way a nurse watches a monitor — because the last three days decide the chick's first three days.
Chicks pip, dry off and come off the trays — our regular hatch day is Thursday, ready from 7am. Day-zero vaccination happens in the hatchery (Marek typically, often Newcastle and Gumboro by batch — recorded and shared with the buyer). Then every batch is graded and counted before boxing, and weak or unthrifty birds are culled out.
Six breed lines, hatched and graded in Kasoa every week, with the published starting prices from our store. Nationwide buyers from agrovet shops to 5,000-bird layer farms order against the same Thursday hatch.

Lohmann Brown · ISA Brown · Hy-Line. The brown-egg specialists — the backbone of every serious egg operation from Greater Accra to the north.
White & brown cockerels. The festive-season bird of Ghanaian households — hardy, forgiving and always in demand from December onwards.
Dual-purpose, disease-resistant. The smallholder favourite — meat and eggs from one hardy flock that thrives on local feed.
Coloured, slower-growing. The bird the live market pays a premium for — the taste Ghanaian cooks call "real chicken."

Certified imports from top parent stock. For farmers who want named genetics and are ready to pre-book ahead of the arrival schedule.
Starting prices as published on our store. Prices move with feed cost, season and the cedi — your live WhatsApp quote is the exact number for your quantity and delivery region.
Ghana's chick market has two kinds of sellers, and they are not equally accountable. Use these five questions on us and on anyone else you buy from — the answers, or the hesitation before them, tell you everything.
A hatchery answers with a day and a time — ours is Thursday, ready from 7am. A reseller answers with "they're day-old" or "this week," because the truth is usually older and longer-travelled than the label. Chick age is counted in hours, and every hour matters.
"Vaccinated" is not an answer — Marek at day zero, Newcastle and Gumboro by batch is. We tell every buyer exactly what was given for their batch, in writing, so your vet can plan the rest of the programme. A seller who cannot show the record is guessing, and you are the one who pays for the guess.
Candling removes the clears and blood rings before they waste your box space. Grading culls the weaklings before they leave. Counting means the number you paid for is the number that arrives. A hatchery does all three as routine; a middleman cannot, because he never sees the eggs.
This is the question that ends the conversation with a reseller. A working hatchery has incubators to show, a team to meet and a hatch day you can watch. Book a visit to ours — any weekday morning — and judge with your own eyes before you spend a cedi.
Chick prices in Ghana move weekly with feed and the cedi — a number printed on a flyer goes stale between printing and delivery. A serious seller quotes live, in writing, and holds the quote. We quote on WhatsApp for your exact quantity and region, and the quote is the number.
Thursday hatch, recorded vaccination, candled, graded, counted, visitable, live-quoted. That is the standard this page is written against — and if any item fails on your order, the hatchery team reads every message on WhatsApp.
Anyone can write "modern hatchery" on a flyer. Here is what the words have to mean in practice — the daily disciplines that separate a 98% average hatch rate from a bucket of excuses, written from our own incubator hall in Kasoa.
| Standard | What we actually do | Why your batch survives it |
|---|---|---|
| Parent stock & egg sourcing | Fertile eggs from selected parent flocks, handled and stored clean-side-up before setting | A chick's strength is decided in the egg — weak inputs hatch weak birds |
| Incubation control | Computer-controlled temperature and humidity with automatic turning through day 18 | Hand-turned eggs hatch unevenly; machines don't forget the night shift |
| Candling discipline | Every egg candled; clears and blood rings removed before they waste a box | You pay for birds, not for air in a carton |
| Day-zero vaccination | Marek at the hatchery; Newcastle and Gumboro by batch — recorded and shared per order | Your vet plans the rest of the programme from a known starting point |
| Grading & counting | Weak chicks culled before boxing; every batch counted before dispatch | The number you paid for is the number that travels |
| Hatch-day dispatch | Thursday hatch, ready 7am; birds leave the same day or the next morning | Hours-old birds travel better than days-old ones — always have |
These are the same standards our own farm store customers rely on — the feed, equipment and vaccines on our shelves are the ones we use on our own birds, and the brooding advice we hand buyers is the same practice our team runs on the farm floor every week of the year. Standards that only exist on a marketing page are not standards at all; these are checkable, and we invite you to check them on a visit.
Hatch rooms are not tour corridors. Visitors are welcome — booked, in clean clothes, no recent visits to other poultry farms that day. It protects your chicks as much as ours.
Every batch has its hatch date, vaccination record and count written down. "Trust me" is not a biosecurity plan — a written record is, and every buyer gets theirs.
120,000+ chicks hatched weekly at capacity, 98% average hatch rate. We publish real numbers because a hatchery that inflates its stats is telling you what else it inflates.
The WhatsApp thread does not close at dispatch. Brooding temperatures, first-week behaviour, feed transitions — ask the team that hatched the birds. Free, with every order.
Our chicks travel in ventilated boxes via trusted transport, matched to hatch day so birds are hours old at dispatch. Greater Accra is a 45-minute run; Kumasi a scheduled mid-belt run; the north goes on planned long-haul schedules. Pickup at the hatchery is always welcome.
Every region has its own delivery rhythm, and we publish a dedicated page for the major ones — Accra, Kumasi, Tema, Takoradi, Tamale and the rest on areas we serve. Message us with your region and quantity, and the live quote includes the real delivery cost to your address — never a surprise at the gate.
A farmer scheme booking 5,000 cockerels, an agrovet shop holding standing stock, a reseller moving weekly volumes — bulk buying fails on the details nobody discusses until delivery day. Here is how we handle them.
Breed and quantity per batch, your region and pickup or delivery preference, and the dates you are targeting. The more notice, the tighter the fit against the Thursday hatch — large mixed orders are best placed early in the week. Tell us your packaging preference too: ventilated boxes are standard, and we count every batch before dispatch.
If your scheme pays by MoMo or bank transfer, say so when booking — the live quote we send includes the total, and the total is the number that stands at delivery. No "transport changed" surprises, ever.
Batch vaccination records in writing, honest counts, candled and graded birds, and a named person on WhatsApp who knows your order. If a hatch runs short for your breed, you hear it before dispatch — we never quietly top orders up with weak leftovers from another batch.
Agrovet shops and resellers: message us your location and expected volumes and we will discuss standing arrangements and schedules. We already supply resellers across the regions — the ones who stay do so because the counts and the records never slip.
Enter your numbers for a quick, no-obligation estimate. It builds a ready-to-send WhatsApp order — we confirm the exact live price and delivery cost for your region.

Agro Prime is a working hatchery, not a reseller. Our team runs computer-controlled incubators on a weekly hatch cycle, vaccinates every batch at the hatchery, and candles, grades and counts the day-old chicks before they leave us. Because we hatch locally, your birds are hours old — not days into a long import journey — when they reach you.

These are the questions bulk buyers, scheme coordinators and first-time farmers actually ask us. If yours isn't here, ask it — an answer costs nothing.
Everything we know about eggs, hatching and the first weeks, published free on the Agro Prime blog by the team that runs the incubators.
Hatchery
What happens inside the egg from setting to pip — candling checkpoints, temperature and humidity by stage, and what a good hatch looks like at each day.
How we choose, clean and store hatching eggs — because the chick's first week is decided before the egg ever enters the incubator.
Why clean hatch rooms hatch stronger chicks — the hygiene routine, the fumigation schedule, and the cost of skipping it.
Walk Ghana's chick market and you meet three sellers. Open-market traders: the cheapest birds, anonymous stock, unknown hatch date and vaccination status, hours to days in transit. Import resellers: named European genetics, but long holding chains between the hatchery and your brooder — and some ask for payment weeks before you see a single bird. Working hatcheries: the shortest, most documented supply line — and the only kind you can visit before paying.
Every kind can deliver birds in a box. The difference shows up in week one, in your mortality count, and in whether anyone answers your call when something looks wrong.
We are the third kind — a Kasoa hatchery with a weekly Thursday rhythm, recorded vaccination, and a door you can walk through. We are not the cheapest box in every market, and we will not pretend to be. What we sell is the shortest verified chain between a candled egg and your brooder, at a live price quoted in writing before you commit.
If your only metric is the lowest number today, the open market will always win that race — and we will say so. If your metric is birds alive at week six and a supplier who answers at 7am on hatch day, that is the race we run.
Tell us your breed, your numbers and your region. You get today's live price, the next Thursday hatch and your exact delivery cost — on WhatsApp, before anything is agreed.
